The 2013 Autosport Show now feels like a distant memory to most as the year gets into full swing. Everyone’s attention has switched to the beginning of the new motorsport season, the impact of March 1st new registrations and the prospect of warmer weather.
But, if you’ll forgive the indulgence…
Looking back at this year’s Autosport Show, the event attracted another good crowd of motorsport fans to the NEC. Indeed, while the general financial climate remains in flux, the motorsport community seem to be continuing to buck the trend and the Autosport Show witnessed numerous new product launches, including Radical’s latest sports car offering – the RXC, Bentley taking the wraps off its Continental GT3 and MSV Racing unveiling its Formula 4 challenger. The event also saw the usual selection of team and championship announcements, including M-Sport presenting its new Qatar-backed Fiesta WRC as well as showcases from Ginetta and Caterham.
The Prova team was kept very busy at this year’s event supporting a number of clients with a host of announcements and media briefings. The week kicked off for Prova at the MIA Low Carbon Racing Conference (LCRC. During this standalone event, the team supported the launch of the Drayson Racing Technologies (DRT) new Formula E race team.
The announcement of the DRT Formula E received a great deal of media attention and CEO of Formula E Holdings, Alejandro Agag, was on-hand at the event to welcome DRT team to the Formula E Championship, which will feature cars racing on city street circuits powered exclusively by renewable electric energy.
The Prova Auto team also coordinated the MIA press facility, offering a full press office service throughout the event, managing all media requests and interviews from the attending press. Another of our clients, the Niche Vehicle Network, was also present at the LCRC, working with Prova to announce its annual Symposium event held at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon later this month (March).
The main event itself kept Prova busy too, as we supported the 2013 GRAND-AM / ROLEX 24 press conference, as well as the normal media liaison and press interview of exhibiting clients. This year’s GRAND-AM / Rolex 24 press conference attracted a bumper crowd with many people having to squeeze in at the back to listen to the host of speakers discuss the 2013 event and the planned rule changes for the 2014 merger of GRAND-AM with the ALMS championship.
All in all, a very busy week for the Prova team!
