Six weeks ago, I had just finished my three years at Coventry University and was starting my first day in the world of public relations at Prova PR. Six weeks later, a lot has happened.
It would be fair to say that, before I started my placement at Prova, I had very little experience in the way in which a public relations agency operated. In my time with the Prova team, I have learnt a lot of valuable skills, such as the importance of working together and getting stuck in, as well as, probably most importantly (in St John’s view), developing a new understanding of 70s and 80s rock bands and how to make a perfect cup of tea!
It hasn’t just been music and tea-making though. During my time with Prova, I have been part of a variety of interesting tasks and events from the world of automotive, environment and technology. I was privileged to be invited to attend a major military defence exhibition, getting experience of what it is like to work in a press office. This was a great opportunity to liaise with journalists and other professionals within the industry. I also had a go at practicing press release writing and, although not yet an expert, the Prova team was very supportive in helping me to develop my skills.
The skills and experiences that I’ve had while on placement at Prova PR will undoubtedly help me in my career. I would like to thank every member of the Prova team for welcoming me in to their world and supporting the work that I have produced for them. Hopefully our lines will cross again in the future.
