Best year ever for Guild of Motoring Writers entries

It was an exciting night at the Royal Automobile Club in December, as the Prova PR Business Writer of the Year 2013 was announced at the Guild of Motoring Writers’ annual awards ceremony. Prova’s Jane Gentleman took to the stage to hand over the prize to freelance journalist and editor of Professional Driver magazine, Mark Bursa, while fleet expert John Maslen was also highly commended in the category.

An unprecedented number of prizes were awarded this year, testament to the diversity of talent in the sector. Prize money totalled more than £20,000 from awards like the Driver and Rider of the Year award, The Guild of Motoring Writers’ brand new Special Award for Contribution to Motoring supported by Kia Motors UK and, of course, the Prova PR Business Writer of the Year award.

The quality of entries to this year’s Business Writer of the Year category was exceptional, however Mark’s entry was a clear winner. He demonstrated a superb understanding of his audience and the sector of the industry he writes about as well as showing key skills essential to business journalism. On top of this, his writing was clear, engaging and informative.

In addition, John scooped a ‘highly commended’ for displaying a broad knowledge of the fleet industry and writing articles that informed the reader. All of the entries were of a high standard and we’d like to congratulate everyone who took part.
