In our last newsletter, we showcased a brand new app that the team was about to launch for our client Trolleywise, part of the Wanzl UK Group. Following a successful media launch that saw coverage in almost 300 media outlets, the app has totaled almost 10,000 downloads by the public in just three months – showing that people want to take pride in their local communities and stop abandoned trolleys blighting their surroundings.
The app enables the public to report abandoned shopping trolleys by uploading photos and their location through smartphones’ location settings. The Trolleywise team then retrieve the wayward trolley and return it to the retailer – all within 24 hours of the receiving the information.
So far, the service has already seen the safe return of almost 3,000 trolleys to their respective supermarkets. If these trolleys hadn’t been returned, it would have cost retailers as much as £175,000 to replace them. As well as retailers saving money, so too are local councils who are often responsible for disposing of errant trolleys that have been abandoned in town centres.
The free-to-download Trolleywise app is available from www.trolleywise.co.uk and registered ‘trolley-spotters’ could win hundreds of pounds of retail vouchers in regular prize draws over the coming months. To find out more, visit www.trolleywise.co.uk.
